Welcome to the Super Fun Friends Zone, a space where awesome friends get together to teach one another about their hobbies, professional interests, or that cool thing they read about last week.
SFFZ is a collaborative learning zone and we want YOU to participate!
The second SFFZ Talk About Things Conference will take place on July 22nd, 2018 at Evanston Games and Cafe, time to be determined. Please do our host a solid and buy a sandwich or some coffee while you’re there.
There is no need to RSVP or buy a ticket for this event. Our events are free, but day-of donations toward space rental are super appreciated. We can’t wait to see you!
Our upcoming event will be another lightning talk showcase, since our last one was so well received. If you would like to pitch a talk, apply here. The proposal form closes on June 23rd at 11:50 CST. Will will announce our speaker lineup on July 8th.
Looking for inspiration? Check out these talks from our first event!
How do we choose talks?
SFFZ is committed to giving a platform for talks that might not otherwise happen. We prioritize marginalized voices, and kooky but interesting and well informed subject material. We DO NOT take previous speaking experience into account, and actively encourage first time speakers to apply.
Our audience prefers talks that are engaging and have a sense of humor. This doesn’t mean talks can’t be about serious subject matter, but be aware that most of the talks at our events are lighthearted. All presentations are subject to our Code of Conduct
Don’t want to present? That’s fine, too! We encourage attendees to take notes, livetweet, and ask awesome questions of our speakers afterwards.
Please note that SFFZ has a code of conduct for all events and online spaces. Make sure to check it out on GitHub.
Super Fun Friends Zone is committed to creating a safe and accessible space for all attendees. Accommodations at our events include:
- Gender neutral restrooms
- Wheelchair accessibility
- Quiet Room
- Dietary accommodations - we do not provide food, but it is available for purchase at the venue
Right now we do not have the funds for live captioning or interpreter services, but if this is a need you have, please talk to us and we will do what we can.
